Location/Division Specific Information

Preferably located at the Florence East API facility in South Carolina but open to home office based with proximity to international airport.

How will you make an impact?

An API Business Manager has a pivotal role in driving the success of the Patheon, part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, small molecule API business. Working within a matrix organization, your primarily responsible will be the effective and efficient commercial management of established and new API projects/products being run at Patheon s small molecule API facilities (mainly those located in the US). This involves building strong relationships with colleagues and customers in order to successfully negotiate and execute contracts for repeat business and long-term commercial supply agreements. An API Business Manager is also actively involved in the new business sales process by acting as a liaison between the API site Operations teams and the Business Development Executives during the screening and quoting process to ensure that the most effective proposal is generated to meet the customer need. The Business Manager is also responsible for identifying and capturing project scope changes.

What will you do?

  • Relationship and commercial management of established of API Business - understands the requirements of clients and communicates them so that the best solution can be found.
  • New business development - collaborates with the Business Development team in order to identify and close new business.
  • Project overview - Works closely together with the internal teams to steer individual customer projects.
  • Internal reporting - Maintains accurate and up to date demand and revenue forecast for own product portfolio.

How will you get here?


  • BS degree (Chemistry with business knowledge or Business plus chemical-technical background) required
  • MBA or other business qualification and advantage


  • 7+ years of previous related experience in project management, account management, sales or marketing with internal or external customer-facing responsibilities within theAPI Pharmaceutical or Contract Manufacturing industry - required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Negotiation and selling skills - business-oriented, service and customer-centric
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Deep knowledge of the pharma business, industry and manufacturing processes, including cGMP regulations

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
